Travel industry leaders made their way to Austin, Texas this past weekend for the annual South by Southwest (SXSW) conference, bringing with them a host of exciting new developments and announcements. Among the keynote speakers was Disney Parks, Experiences and Products Chairman Josh D’Amaro, who stole the show with new technology, including a roller-skating robot and a hologram version of Tinkerbell.
Visitors to the Creative Expo at the Convention were treated to exhibits from a variety of companies, including local tourism boards and startup brands. Turkish Airlines stood out with a massive and unique exhibit that included flight attendants offering refreshments and traditional Turkish coffee.
Representatives from Tucson, Arizona, Bastrop County, Texas and Irving, Texas shared insights about their respective cities and provided visitors with local products to sample. The SCP Hotel booth also stood out with their holistic hospitality exhibit that offered visitors a calming oasis with local kombucha, journaling, and yoga.
Prime Video showcased “Prime, Texas,” an immersive experience that takes fans into nine of their favorite Prime Video original series. Located in Hotel San José’s SoCo neighborhood, the faux town offers an Austin-inspired environment where fans can explore everything Prime, Texas has to offer. Guests can get made-to-fade tattoos at the Inkbox tattoo parlor or personalize a denim jacket at PRIME DenimCo. with a local artist. Delicious Texas-inspired food and beverage with a Prime Video twist are served at the event, along with themed cocktails at the Academy of Country Music Awards Tavern Bar and the risqué XXXclusive Bar. The main stage features music from popular DJs, and there are photo ops and themed experiences based on the different shows. Prime, Texas offers an immersive experience for fans of Prime Video’s original series.
