Portland, Maine is quickly become a culinary capital with beautiful restaurants popping up across the city. Located inside the luxury Press Hotel, UNION Restaurant has consistently been voted the top choice for diners. So how can a restaurant inside of a hotel surprise and delight an avid traveler? We went inside to find out.
Executive Chef Josh Berry (also a Maine Native) has reinvented the culinary experience with his stunning menu & truly open kitchen plan. Most recently, Chef Berry was named Maine Restaurant Association’s 2017 Chef of the Year.
Chef Berry tells us that he believes that “being supplied by the best local farms allows you to enjoy ingredients at their peak of flavor. [UNION] partners with farms and producers across New England to ensure that when you dine at UNION you are truly getting a taste of the region’s finest ingredients.”.
We couldn’t agree more. From start to finish the experience was incredible, fresh, and delicious. We enjoyed the Seared Octopus as an appetizer, and the Truffle Beef Pot Roast & Korean Barbecued Duck Breast for our entrees.
The chefs in the kitchen add to the excitement of UNION, firing dishes, adding ingredients, and serving masterpieces before the patron’s eyes.
Their mission is simple: “Enjoy the bounty of what our oceans, streams and local purveyors have produced as we commit to using sustainable Maine products.”. Enjoy!
